Particular : Name of KVK Details : Mau
Name of Technology Biological wilt management in chickpea
Character of Technology Chickpea is important pulse crop of Mau district in rabi season grown in 1385 ha area. However, there is high incidence (10-40%) of wilt resulting in yield loss to 10-25%. For management of the wilt, KVK assessed incorporation of seed treatment with Trichoderma @ 10 g/ kg seed and soil treatment with Trichoderma @ 5kg with 125 compost /ha in soil which reduced disease incidence 25 to 30% and yield was increased by 41.6 per cent over farmers practice(14.2 qt/ ha).
Impact of the Technology In the selected Village, chick pea is important pulse crop of Eastern Uttar Pradesh in rabi season. However, there is high incidence of wilt resulting in yield loss. KVK, Mau conducted on-farm trial to assess the control measure. The assess technology of seed treatment with Trichoderma @ 10 g/ kg seed and soil treatment with Trichoderma @5kg with 125 compost /ha in soil.
a) Adoption Status Through several extension activities, 55% chickpea growers adopted this technology and it has been horizontally spread in 138 ha area of the district.
b) Area to be Spread There is wide scope of this technology in district and it’s to be horizontally spread in 1382 ha area in the district.

Technology- RCT in R-W cropping system

Particular : Name of KVK Details : Mau
Name of Technology Use of ZT machine for wheat sowing
Character of Technology Wheat is important cereal crop of rabi season in Mau district grown in 94160 ha area. More than 3000 ha area are under water logged condition where long duration rice crop is grown. Due to delayed harvesting of rice and late sowing of wheat crop, the yield of crop is too low. In 2008-09 KVK Mau started popularizing ZT m/c and distributed one machine each in all the nine blocks of the district under custom hiring basis to the youths selected after survey. In the first year only 25 villages covered with 243 ha area. But gradually, after organizing farmer fairs gosthies, trainings and demonstrations, the technology popularized in a big way in the district.
Impact of the Technology At present in the district there are 86 ZT machine purchased by farmers and 432 villages covered with 3492 ha area. Productivity of wheat was 21q/ha in 2008-09 was increased to 29 q/ha in previous year. Due to low cost, suitable for late condition, increase in yield survivability against wind blow it became very popular in district.
a) Adoption Status Through several extension activities, 31% wheat growers adopted this technology and it has been horizontally spread in 3492 ha area of the district.

Technology - Raised Bed Planting in Pigeon pea crops

Particular : Name of KVK Details : Mau
Name of Technology Raised Bed Planting in Pigeon pea crops
Character of Technology Pigeon pea is important pulse crop of Mau district Rabi season grown in 2330 ha area. However, area of pigeon pea in district decreases fron 2446 ha due to high incidence (10-50%) of wilt resulting in yield loss to 10-45%. For management of the wilt KVK assessed incorporation of seed treatment with Trichoderma @ 10 g/ kg seed and soil treatment with Trichoderma @5kg with 125 compost /ha in soil with raised bed planter which reduced disease incidence 38 to 51% and yield was increased by 42.61 per cent over farmers practice(18.24 qt./ ha).
